Every year, GEAR UP at Central Washington University fully funds week
long summer science camps for students in the GEAR UP cohort. These
camps expose students to life on a college campus; they stay in dorms
like real college students, eat at the student cafeteria, and take
classes with college professors. Students go on day trips to sites to
enhance their classroom learning experience -- past trips have included a
field visit to Mt Rainier and a tour of the Wild Horse Wind Farm.
The
2014 summer camp provided three tracks for interested students, they
were able to study robotics, physics/astronomy, or biodiversity. Camps
in previous years have had similar themes. Check out the links on the
left side bar to view pictures some of the fun activities students have
participated in at previous camps!
