What is GEAR UP ?
GEAR UP stands for
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. It is a
federal program funded by the US Department of Education. GEAR UP
provides funding for certain school districts, with the goal of
significantly increasing the number of low-income middle and high school
students who are prepared to enter and succeed in education after high
school.
The GEAR UP grant at the Tonasket School District follows
the students in the 2017 and 2018 graduating classes, providing them
with access to college visits, tutoring, educational field trips,
college and career counseling, science and technology activities, summer
camps and more.
