School Closure/Delay Information


DISTRICT PROTOCOL DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER:

The district takes very seriously any safety-related issues for students, staff, parents, and patrons caused by severe weather. The district Transportation Supervisor assesses the current driving conditions prior to 5:30am and is in contact with the local Department of Transportation and County Public Works to gather information regarding road conditions.
The Superintendent and the Transportation Supervisor will review the available road condition information and will drive various roads to see first-hand the current driving conditions.
The Superintendent will make the decision whether to close or delay school. If the decision is made to close or delay school, the local media will be contacted immediately. The district provides the information to KOMW radio and KREM-2, KXLY-4 and KHQ-6 television stations as well as the Okanogan Valley Chronicle Facebook page. The district will also utilize the SchoolMessenger notification system (robocall), district Facebook page and the district website.
