Tonasket Machine Shop is presently owned by David and Elizabeth Gasho. On the inside of the sliding shop doors are brands made in the shop in the past and still today. A special thanks to the Gasho family for hosting 3 classrooms of 4th graders at the business. |
| --from All Roads Lead to Tonasket by Henry Colbert and Elva Helm: "George (Churchman) purchased and ran this shop, (which is the present Tonasket Machine Shop...) for five years... George still wasn't feeling well, it seemed his lungs were weak,...so he decided to sell out to Earl Cotton, who used to help. Cotton ran it about a year and sold to Wally Bordeaux and Cloud Kirchner in 1944. Cloud was forced to quit in 1967 because of welding poisoning, thus ending a 23-year partnership." pg. 91 | --from Judy Bordeaux in a letter: "I grew up in Tonasket (left in 1966 when I went to college) so I have a very soft spot for the place. My father, Wally Bordeaux, used to own the Tonasket Machine Shop at the south edge of town. On the inside of the big wooden doors of the shop are all the brands ever made by anyone who owned the shop. As a kid, it was fun to figure out the names of the ranches based on the brands." |
