Laurel and Tom Nebel--Sponsors
Laurel graduated from Tonasket and moved away from the area.  As she developed her artistic talents with painting and writing, she decided to share her enthusiasm with her hometown.  With husband Tom’s help and encouragement, they set up two annual contests named in honor of her mother:
1. Creative writing
2. Art design for the T-Shirts used as awards
Since 1990, many Tonasket students have gained confidence in their abilities because of the special recognition of the awards and the added attention from Laurel and Tom.
