Science Fair 2013-1014

On Jan 21, 2013, Outreach middle school students presented their projects to parents and fellow students at the annual Outreach Science Fair. This year we had a wide variety of projects and all were well received by the audience. Students explored the scientific method in their investigations and conducted their experiments at home. Each student prepared a board and a presentation delivered at the science fair.

Projects included:

  1. Will different coins float?
  2. Are non-Newtonian fluids a liquid or a solid?
  3. Which liquid will evaporate the fastest?
  4. Does tea stain teeth?
  5. How can you cut onions without burning your eyes?
  6. What is better to conduct an electric current – a small bundle of wires or a large single wire?
  7. Is there an electrical charge in energy drinks?
  8. What is the best source of heat to use when making a Sterling Engine with a pop can?
  9. Will Soil 2.0 hold moisture better than standard soil?
