On Jan 21, 2013, Outreach middle
school students presented their projects to parents and fellow students
at the annual Outreach Science Fair. This year we had a wide variety of
projects and all were well received by the audience. Students explored
the scientific method in their investigations and conducted their
experiments at home. Each student prepared a board and a presentation
delivered at the science fair.
Projects included:
- Will different coins float?
- Are non-Newtonian fluids a liquid or a solid?
- Which liquid will evaporate the fastest?
- Does tea stain teeth?
- How can you cut onions without burning your eyes?
- What is better to conduct an electric current – a small bundle of wires or a large single wire?
- Is there an electrical charge in energy drinks?
- What is the best source of heat to use when making a Sterling Engine with a pop can?
- Will Soil 2.0 hold moisture better than standard soil?
